An update on the work of the Campaign for the Farmed Environment.

The industry-led partnership encouraging farmers and land managers to adopt environmental ‘best practice’.

LEAF (Linking Environment And Farming) have recently launched a new farmer case study booklet detailing the stories of ten farmers implementing more nature-based, regenerative farming techniques to help meet net-zero targets.   Each case study showcases different farming enterprises, across the country and aims to inspire other farmers to start their own net-zero journey.

The BGS Grassland Farmer of the Year 2021, Marc Jones, is hosting a farm walk on Tuesday 24 May at Trefnant Hall, near Welshpool. Marc runs an April lambing flock of 500 ewes and finishes 350 dairy-bred beef heifers. Environmental work has been carried out and the farm has been carbon footprinted. The event is free, but registration is required.

What can your Farmland Woods & Trees do for your business and the environment? Hear 1st hand from farmers and forestry experts how farm woodlands and trees can deliver for farming businesses. With appropriate management the woody assets on your farm can provide products, deliver environmental services and help tackle the climate and nature crisis. The webinar will be held on the 12th of May at 5:00-6:15pm

The Agroforestry ELM Test project is looking for farmers to take part in online workshops to help structure Agroforestry standards for ELM.

Workshops will be held afternoon 24, 26, 31 May, 01 June, 28, 29, 30 June, and 01 July. Farmers not intending to undertake agroforestry within ELM and prepared to explain why are just as welcome as those interested in agroforestry, and farmers will be paid for their time.

Are you farming in England? Have your voice heard on agroforestry! This short survey will help us target relevant information on agroforestry to the right farmers and make agroforestry really happen in England. The research is being carried out an MSc Agroforestry student from Bangor university in coordination with the Organic Research Centre.

Pollinating insects play a vital role in our environment, ensuring that many of our crops and wild plants are able to set seed and produce fruit. We need to know how pollinator populations are changing, and with your help we are gathering data on a wide range of flower-visiting insects. It takes just 10 minutes to complete!
