NFU Poultry Adviser, Aimee Mahony is completing a research project for her MSc with the Royal Veterinary College, looking at the perceptions of poultry keepers towards biosecurity. The survey is aimed at all poultry keepers regardless of the species or number of birds they own or look after. If you have a few spare minutes your views would be appreciated. At the Budget 2020, the government announced key decisions it has taken for the design of the Plastic Packaging Tax. HMRC are now seeking further views on areas of the tax which have been further refined as we move closer to the implementation date of April 2022. The tax will apply to plastic packaging manufactured in or imported into the UK containing less than 30% recycled plastic.

It has been confirmed that Christine Tacon CBE has been reappointed as the Groceries Code Adjudicator for a period of up to six months.

The extension is intended to maintain consistency and provide reassurance to the grocery sector during the coronavirus pandemic. This is welcome news as the government has temporarily eased domestic competition laws in order to help the industry deal with COVID-19 related issues. Read more about the impact of Covid-19 on the supply chain here...

The NFU’s turkey merchandise shop is open following requests from members for help with packaging solutions since an increase in farm shop sales and deliveries because of the current Covid-19 restrictions.

NFU members receive a 20% discount on all products which include carrying boxes, greaseproof paper, labels and carrier bags. Product lines are only available whilst stocks last. The shop can be accessed here...
