HAVE YOU SEEN THE RED TRACTOR ON TV?

If you are a soap fan and tuned in to Emmerdale this week, you might have seen a new TV advert hit our screens to to tell you about Red Tractor. The logo means that our food and drink has been produced to high standards of animal welfare and food safety, which allows you to trace your food from farm to fork.

FOOD AND FARMING IN THE NEWS

To mark Back British Farming Day (12 September) 140 MPs plus the Shadow Cabinet showed their support for British farming by wearing a Back British Farming wheat-pin badge.

In early September the Government announced a two year trial which will enable a certain number of seasonal workers to be brought to the UK for short term agricultural work. The NFU welcomed the announcement following two years of evidence that a shortage of workers has been hampering food production.

The publication of the Agricultural Bill on 12 September coincided with the NFU's Back British Farming Day. The NFU welcomed the Bill as it provides a once in a generation opportunity to shape the future of British agriculture but reiterated that food production must be at the heart of it.
