On the 25th May 2018 Defra lifted the Avian Influenza Prevention Zone (AIPZ) which was originally imposed on the 16th January. The risk level of AI in wild birds in the UK has been reduced to low however we would urge all poultry keepers to continue to practice good biosecurity. Read more ...

Along with other industry bodies we have been working with Defra on the updated code of practice - the actual consultation closed on the 9th March. The final draft of the code has now been approved by the Farm Animal Welfare Committee (FAWC) and Ministers and was laid before Parliament in draft on Tuesday 5 June for a period of 40 days.
